• Reform and improvement of the commercial structures.
• Promotion and planning in terms of commerce.
• Execution competencies and the State’s legislation regarding Fairs to be held in the territory of the Autonomous Region of Cantabria set up in the Law 5/1998 of 15 May and in the Royal Decree 1386/1996 of 7 June.
• Tutelage about the exercise of the activities of the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Navigation set up in the Royal Decree 1385/1996 of 7 June.
• The administrative discipline in the application of the legislation on consumer affairs and adoption, if needed or in an urgent case, of the necessary measures to protect the health and security of the consumers and users.
• Administration of the register of consumer and user associations in Cantabria, information supply to the consumers and users and rendering the necessary technical and administrative support to the Body of Consumer Arbitration of Cantabria.
• Coordination of and participation in the courses and activities of the permanent school of consumers and promotion of the progressive implementation of the consumer education in the education system in collaboration with the competent autonomous and national organs.
